Abstract: Containerization has revolutionized software deployment by offering a lightweight, efficient, and portable way to package applications along with their dependencies. Among the leading technologies in this space, Docker has played a transformative role in how we develop, test, and deploy software across diverse computing environments. In this presentation, we’ll explore how Docker Swarm technology can be applied to implement MPI (Message Passing Interface) processes within the Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) model. We’ll walk through the deployment strategy and demonstrate a scenario showcasing the parallel execution of MPI tasks using Docker Swarm, highlighting its potential to streamline and scale complex scientific computations.

Bio: Goran Petkovski is a System Engineer and PhD candidate at the Faculty of Computer Science and Engineering (FINKI), Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje. With a strong academic background and hands-on expertise, his work centers on the design, deployment, and optimization of cloud-based infrastructure and high-performance computing environments. He has led and contributed to various cloud computing initiatives, including the development of integrated GPU platforms for academic use, virtualization strategies, and advanced system administration. His current research focuses on leveraging AI to build models for automated log-pattern recognition and anomaly detection.
